PLACES SHE WENT

SUNDAY 12TH MAY 2013
A VISIT TO BIRMINGHAM SUNDAY MARKET

Today I met up with my good friend and colleague Jasse.  We decided to visit Birmingham Sunday Market, which is a huge Car boot sale based at Birmingham Wholesale Market Precinct.

Jasse was in search of cheap Rack Top Bag  for her bike and I went along for the journey and also for any bicycle goodies I could find.    We arrived at around 10.45 and the place was buzzing with people. There were  various stalls selling all kinds of goods. There was new, nearly new, handmade and vintage things of every kind, with masses of people on the look out for a bargain.

For those interested in bicycles or bicycle accessories there were many, many stalls to have a look at.   Most were selling second hand and vintage bicycles. and one or two selling new bicycle accessories of all kinds.  There was even a mobile bicycle mechanic, doing repairs from the rear of his van.

There were so many used, second hand and vintage bikes to choose from.  I managed to spot some beautiful vintage bikes from the 70s & 80s.

My favourites have to be the Vintage 1970s Raleigh Misty & the Vintage Motobecane Racing bike.   Most of the vintage bikes seemed to start at around £30 as were the more modern bikes.  All bike would more than likely need some repairs, but would make a great starter bike or for a bike project.   Once repairs are done, there is no reason why these could not be used as basic commuter bikes or light leisure bikes

Unfortunately I was not on the look out for a used bike.  However, I did find a fabulous Brand New Basil rear bike basket for a bargain price of £2.

I'm not sure what is wrong with it, but it served the purpose of getting my extra groceries home.

All in all this was a really good morning out, with an an achievement of finding a good source for reasonably price bicycles and accessories.
Oh and lets not forget tea and cake.  No Sunday morning cycle is complete without tea & cake :)

  1. Makes me want to 'do' market and cake too. Good way to give people an idea of other stuff they can get up to with their bikes ;)

    1. Thanks.. I aim to try to present things regarding cycling that can be accessed at any end of the spectrum, whether you are looking to buy, a newbie, regular commuter. I also aim to present places and smaller traders in my local community that are often over looked or over shadowed by large chains.

      Have a good day
